Productivity is one of those things we all struggle with and can always find room for improvement. However, some of us think that being productive is simply staying “busy”. Being busy on the wrong things is not only killing your productivity, but also wearing you out. Here are some of the habits that could be hindering your productivity:

1. Impulsive Web Browsing

In the 21st century, it’s easy to get distracted with all of our technological advancements. Yes, it is amusing that by simply typing a question on Google you can have the answer within minutes. However, try to limit your searches throughout the day. You’d be surprised what 5 of minutes of “web browsing” every couple of hours can amount to.

 

2. Procrastinating on Your Most Important Tasks

According to research, we are all the most productive in the morning. Before you let the stress of the day, or that “3’o clock tiredness” hit you, it’s important that you tackle the most important things first.

 

3. Snoozing

I, along with many of you, am super guilty of this! I’ve been trying to break this habit for the past month and though i have stopped snoozing for 30 minutes down to only 5 minutes, it’s still a bad habit. According to research, “when you first wake up, your endocrine system begins to release alertness hormones to get you ready for the day. By going back to sleep, you’re slowing down this process.”

So there you have it, folks. You’re only harming the process!

 

4. Scrolling Through Your Phone Right Before Bed

This is perhaps the #1 bad habit that almost everyone does. You’ve had a long day, you finally lay down, and what do you do? Catch up on your Facebook, daily news, our even Pin for your upcoming party.

What’s so wrong about this habit? The LED light from your phone, “which studies have shown can suppress melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate the sleep cycle.” Not only can it disturb your sleep cycle, but people with lower melatonin levels tend to be more prone to depression.
