Having a successful Monday paths the path to a successful week, right? So what are all those happy-go-lucky people you see first thing Monday morning doing that you aren’t? Here’s eight helpful tips to starting your week out right!

 

1. Wake up early.

The first step to waking up on the right side of the bed is going to bed on the right side of the bed. Just make sure you’re going to bed on the right side of the bed at a decent time. The key to waking up early is going to bed early. Remember, you’re in charge of your inner voice. So if it starts telling you “five more minutes” – Ignore it.

 

2. Eat a healthy breakfast.

Monday’s are hectic and we don’t always have control over how things go throughout the day. One thing we do have control of though is our breakfast. Trying to concentrate at work while attempting to ignore a growling stomach and watching the clock for lunchtime is no easy tasks. The best way to stop that is to not let it start.

 

3. Clear your workspace.

We all like to think that we would tidy up before we leave on Friday, but that isn’t always the case. To start your week off right, make sure you tie up any loose ends from the previous week; set aside any unimportant paperwork and focus on prioritizing what needs to get done first.

 

4. Update your lists.

Whether you keep a to-do list or a goals one, make sure you update it weekly. Being able to physically see you have accomplished something pushes you to keep going and continue to be successful. Then if there is anything left on your lists from the week before, you can move them up to the top to make sure they don’t get lost in the hustle and bustle.

 

5. Get the tough tasks out of the way.

It’s easy to think “Oh, that’s easy. I’ll just go ahead and get it done first.” Although that does make it easier to knock a lot of items off of your to-do list quickly, it also uses a lot of energy. Since the morning is when we have most of our energy, use it to focus in on one larger project and save those quick and simple ones for later.

 

6. Smile.

Seems easy, right? Just keep in mind that your smile could be contagious and it could help everyone relax. You may stand out at first for being the co-worker with a big ole grin on first thing in the morning but soon you will have the whole workplace smiling.  That’s successful all on its own.

 

7. Stay focused.

Maybe you had a rough morning. You spilled your coffee, you got stuck on every red light, and maybe you were even successful in ripping your pants while getting out of the car. Don’t dwell on those incidents and definitely don’t let them define how your week is going to continue. Put those events into their own compartments and forget about them for now. (Don’t forget to take those pants to a seamstress though!)

 

8. Remember, there’s always Tuesday.

It is easy to get lost in all the chaos at the start of the week. You might think that every task you have to do needs to get done today. At the end of the day when all the dust settles you might realize some of those tasks could have waited until tomorrow.

 

Monday’s get the best of all of us sometimes. Don’t get hung up on it though. You don’t want to relive Monday on Tuesday.
